KNOW APPLICATION PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT

KNOW APPLICATION PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT

Today many businesses depend on applications, both web applications, and mobile applications. To ensure that the business process runs smoothly the company needs to ensure that the web application or mobile also runs smoothly.

Get to know APM

Application Performance Management (APM) is a management system method that focuses on monitoring and managing the performance of an application. APM is a very important tool to support the business processes that we do because he can find out where the shortcomings of an application are.

When the application is problematic, of course, the one who will immediately get the negative effect is the customer. If the problem drags on, customers can feel disturbed and can leave our services. We certainly don't want them to leave so that the problems that arise must be addressed immediately. One of the most useful features of the APM is that it can tell what parts of our application are problematic so we don't have to linger for the source of the problem and focus immediately on resolving the problem.

Utilization of APM

Because of the importance of the role of an APM, it is no longer just a utility for IT Operations but has developed into a utility that can be used in various departments of a business company.

IT Operations

When you hear the term APM, you might think your IT team uses it to monitor issue critical applications, monitor servers, networks, and other infrastructure. No, not all can be monitored by APM.

APM only monitors the application environment, focusing on monitoring
the application as a whole, ensuring every transaction in the application
there are no obstacles, and also many other things, so that makes
the application used is more stable.

Development Teams

APM also works at the code/script level so that we can know metric data, log messages, errors, real user monitoring, etc. These data are very useful for the developer team when a bug/problem occurs. Not only useful for resolving a bug/problem but the data generated is also useful to find out which parts of the application can be optimized.

APM can also be used by the developer team when conducting a QA test to validate the performance of the code they created before deploying to production.

Database Administrator

APM can also be useful for database administrators. This tool can analyze how long a query is executed, or how often an execution query, and other data. With this data, the administrator can also identify where the database can be optimized for performance.

Product Owners and Executive

As an application owner, of course, you want to continue to monitor its progress. You want to know whether the application is running according to its function, whether the system resources are still supporting, or to find out whether the performance is good or not. APM generally has a dashboard that can display various types of data and can be read easily by non-IT people.

Customer Service

When a problem occurs and the customer complains, the first person to receive the complaint is customer service. When they receive a complaint, the first thing to do is try to do what the customer does (to ensure the problem). However, because the system used by customers and the system used by CS is different, sometimes these problems do not occur from the CS side. If the CS team has access to the APM dashboard, they can ensure themselves what problems are happening in the application. That way the response becomes faster without the need to contact and wait for answers from the IT/developer team.

Sales and Marketing

The information collected by APM can also be used by the sales and marketing team to better market your products. They can know what part or in which category the application is used most often.
